Lisa Trindade
Some people allow their past to shape who they become. Others, like Lisa Trindade, find a way to channel their hurt through music to tell their story and to help shape a better world.

Each day Lisa Trindade wakes up, she has to live with the painful memory of a traumatic experience that no one should have to endure. Yet, each day she wakes up and finds a way to move forward and to channel that pain into a worthy cause- her music and helping others. The fact is, this is one girl who is not going to let other's negativity get in the way of her achieving her dreams. Having completed a successful tour in August across the United States with Coast 2 Coast Live and platinum recording artist N.O.R.E. she's now continuously creating new music and collaborating artists here and abroad. Perhaps nothing conveys her story of personal struggle and triumph better than her debut radio single 'I'll Get Up', whose sassy and defiant tenor reads like an autobiography. And the listeners are loving it. Independent reporter Andrew Edwards recently interviewed Lisa to get an inside look at this intriguing artist/activist and her accelerating career.

ANDREW: When When did you first discover your love of music?
LISA: The day I first discovered my love for music was when I realized I could tell my story through music. When you are trying to address an issue and you have no one who cares around you, you try to find other ways to tell your story. The moment I realized I can turn my negative into a positive through my music, I knew this would be a way my story could be heard. My whole life became focused on one thing: my music. I love music. I write and create new songs every day. I am currently in the works of getting music videos released. The reason the videos are not released yet is I am currently producing a movie about my story. Each video that is being created will tell parts of my story that I believe will be a great inspiration to anyone that can relate to my situation and what I have been through. I believe my story will be a great solution to helping our world become a better, safer place to live.

ANDREW: Your song is receiving a positive listener response on radio. What was your initial reaction when you first heard your song playing on radio?
LISA:

ANDREW: What was the inspiration behind your single ‘I’ll Get Up’?
LISA: My inspiration for writing the song ‘I’ll Get Up’ came from being treated wrongfully by law enforcement and many others. I wrote the song to let all the evil wrong people know that they can knock me down but I will get up. When they were causing me pain, they all thought it was funny to label me mentally ill and torture my children and I by doing what they all did to us but today who is laughing now. I think my inspiration came from many things. I wanted to make sure no one else ever had to suffer the pain these people intentionally caused my family and I. I wanted to protect my children and this is very hard to do when your own law enforcement allows them to be held at gun point and allows the man you had a protective order against to have his protective order disappear. I feel my inspiration comes from wanting to teach everyone who has joined this group of evil people and found some sort of joy in messing up people’s lives. I hope you all find yourselves sitting in a cell somewhere getting the justice our world deserves so that none of you can hurt anyone else again and instigate the awful nightmares you all did in my life and my families’ life. Let justice be served.

ANDREW: Would you say that the mood of your other songs is in the same vein as ‘I’ll Get Up?’
LISA: ‘I’ll Get Up’ is one of the songs written for the movie I am currently working towards producing on the awful things that had happened to me. The mood of my other songs has several different mood settings to them. In the song with Nick Russo ‘When It’s Over,’ the words were so powerful I had to be a part of this song and be heard. Our country is falling apart and if someone doesn’t stand up, other people will continue to take people’s children and do the awful things that are being done. Our entire country is going to be filled with drug addicted children trying to cover their pain from what these sick foster homes that abuse children. It’s time to stand up or we risk letting the bad take over our country. ‘Locked Away,’ ‘Gotta Go,’ ‘Gotta Get Away,’ are some songs where I consider myself a serious artist trying to address a serious heart breaking issue that needs to be fixed and stopped before someone else gets hurt like my family has been. I had enough of their abuse and it is my goal to not only seek the justice for myself. We as a country need to join together and do what is right and stop what these criminals have organized. The songs ‘Crown Royal,’ ‘Tonight We’re Young,’ ‘Whipped Cream,’ ‘Rock My Boat,’ ‘Video Gamez,’ etc. show another side of me. When I perform live, I want to keep the crowd in a fun, happy and positive mood. This is the mood I like to see everyone in. I like to use music to bring out the fun in everyone around me. So when performing live and creating songs for tour I like to be considered a fun, exciting great person to be around. The serious artist comes out when I am addressing a certain issue. I have many other creative sides to me. So the situation and my mood determine what type of song I will create. I create new songs every day. I love music and the song that was picked for radio is an awesome song with a very emotional reason for me wanting to produce a track like this. I do look forward to telling my story soon. It is a very complicated and heartbreaking situation. This is why I am having a movie produced to help me and others understand the whole story of what I went through in life that led me to be the artist I am today.

ANDREW: Did you come from a musical background? Are there other musicians in your family?
LISA: I was not raised in a musical background. I never even pictured myself ever doing music. Music came to me when I discovered I could use music to be heard. I wrote letters after letters and no one cared to listen. When I discovered music I figured if I could create good enough songs the whole world would hear my story. Then I could make music videos that would explain the story and maybe get justice for the wrong done this way. Once I started doing music I found I could express my feelings. I was told by my beautiful Grandma Trindade that she used to buy the music books for ten cents and she said she use to sing and know all the songs out of the book. She is a huge blessing in my life I have never heard her sing yet and was shocked when she told me she used to be a good singer and she used to sing milking cows. I was happy to know this because I think the world of my grandma. She is an amazing woman. The only other music background I have is being self taught because of wanting to be heard. I love music because it has so much positive energy.

ANDREW: What do you find most rewarding about being a musician? What do you find most challenging?
LISA: The most rewarding thing about being a musician is the feeling I get of being heard. I love proving to the people who hated on me and caused my family and I pain that they didn’t destroy me. I hope this is the message I send to the youth in society today: No matter what you go through in life, no matter what people do to you, if you are in a situation where you feel you can’t get out or no one is listening to you, I would encourage them to start writing music and vent through music. Music is the best therapy anyone could ever get. I would rather write a song and vent my hurt into something that will make the people who done you so wrong double think before ever thinking about hurting you again. The movement of music is amazing, especially if you want to be heard and are trying to make a change for the better and at times ut feels hard to keep holding on. The satisfaction you get in the end is seeing all you evil people who manipulated with intimidation all look stupid and everyone who chose to join this evil crew instead of being a good person and saying hey it’s wrong and stand up for the person being done wrong. Watching all these sick people look at me rise to the top with the music created from their wrong is the best feeling ever. They always said the best revenge is success. I agree when my story is released and everyone understands what it is I am talking about. I hope that is when you all realize don’t ever give up. If I could do what I am doing you can too. If you’re surrounded by evil and need good in your life, keep believing in you even when no one else does. The hardest part is dealing with the struggles of jealous, evil, hateful people. You have to ignore them and show them how stupid they look for hating on you. You can do anything you want. Don’t let anyone tell you different. Thank you everyone who has believed in me when no one else did. I love everyone who has helped me accomplish my goal and hope to help our country become a more positive, safe place to live. Keep holding on. Someone cares. Stay strong. I love you all.

ANDREW: Who are your role models in music?
LISA: My role models are Tim McGraw and Faith Hill. They are two people whom I have a lot of love and respect for in the music industry. I love the message they send to others and the beautiful people they are. I would have to say my other role models are Coast 2 Coast Mix Tapes, Lil Fats, Danny Mix Tapes, N.O.R.E, Freeway, Crooked I, Jizok and Rockoslab in New York. We call him Rocko (also known as Bill Collectors). He’s not only been my role model. Rocko is behind a lot of my songs turning out as good as they are. Rocko is the reason the song ‘I’ll Get Up’ exists today. I could not have made this track without Rocko taking the time to listen to my story about my life and did not look at me like I was crazy. He helped me create songs to help me address the message that needs to be sent to America. So Rocko is a huge inspiration and key factor to why my music is doing as well as it is. He has taught me a lot and helps me in areas he has the knowledge in and I can always depend on him. Frank from sound chambers in Modesto has been a great role model and does a lot of my records. Danny Mix Tape from Coast 2 Coast and Alex I give these two the most love ever because I had no clue what I was doing and these guys are professionals and never once did they judge me. They listened to my reason for wanting to do music, heard my story and also helped me create awesome songs such as ‘Locked Away,’ ‘Tonight We’re Young,’ ‘Gotta Go,’ and ‘Yesterday’ are all songs that Danny Mix Tape helped me record. His studio was the first real studio I had ever recorded in. I worked with him in Miami, Florida and stayed in contact with everyone still today. Rocko and I worked with out of New York. I have to say thank you to Lil Fats from Coast 2 Coast Mix Tapes for letting me be a part of a tour with platinum recording artist N.O.R.E, The Good Belt Gang and everyone who had to have known I didn’t have a clue what I was doing but was doing what I felt I had to do in order to learn and be heard. When my tour was over, I worked with Danny Mix Tape and got connected to the right people. I started making awesome track after awesome track and I would have to say everyone that has allowed me to be in there magazines, on their mix tapes or just allowed me to collar with them are my inspiration. I love hard-working artists that take their careers seriously and are willing to help others without judging them. I met some really great people on this journey to success who have been my reason behind my success in the music industry. Thank you to DTHAMC Lions Denn Studio, Pitlock Productions and Nick Russo Renowned Sound. There are so many people I am thankful for and have been huge inspirations for me in the music industry and I meet new ones every day. This is a business where I feel I belong and I love everyone who has shown me the path to reach the destination I had in mind for my reason for doing music today.

ANDREW: What advice would you give to young, aspiring musicians out there who are unsure and need guidance?
LISA: I encourage the young to stay strong and don’t allow evil to ever interfere with your dreams or anyone ever stand in your way, even when they knock you down. I believe music has the power to move many others who are struggling in this world out of their awful situations as well. I hope the youth know stat if I had known I can learn how to sing and do the things I do today, I would have saved myself a lot of heartache. If I had known much would help me vent and get me through life’s struggles, I would have been a musician years ago. You don’t have to know how to sing or write when you first start. No one knows how to sing and write when they are born. You have to want to learn and have drive and determination to want it. I encourage the youth to try music to express the feelings they need to let out before thinking of committing a crime for what others have done to you . Think smart and do what’s right. Create a song for the whole world to hear and not only will this make you a better person than the evil people hurting you, the whole world will be able to understand your pain and the whole world is not a bad place. I believe there are more good people in this world than there are bad. Never give up on your dreams. If you need advice on how to start, feel free to email me at hollywoodlisa4@gmail.com. I am willing to give back to the youth what others have done for me. Everyone can do anything they want if they set their mind to it and are willing to give it their all 24/7. You can make anything happen. Determination and hard work is all anything takes in order to succeed. Do not give in and give up because others are making life difficult for you. That should motivate you to do something positive so that you are setting an example. Do not join evil to fight against evil and try to always be true to yourself. Never let anyone take advantage of you. Reach out and never stop asking someone for help .Even when you’re not heard never give up- believe in you. No one else matters but you and your family and if it’s your family doing you wrong always remember there are others who care and won’t. Never give up on hope when you fail keep getting back up. It’s not easy and it’s hard but it’s worth the effort when you know what you’re going through is wrong.

ANDREW: Excellent advice! Thanks for taking time out to share your story. I wish you continued success and good luck!
